Well, we roughly have 6 weeks left in America till we return (September 24th) to Croatia. I just thought I would update you on what is happening in Croatia while we're away and on what is happening for the remainder of our furlough.
Visa Situation
Many of you have been asking about our visa situation. To answer your questions, there are no changes up to this point. There is a proposal that will be presented to the Croatian parliament in September at which time they should make a decision about any changes. Please continue to pray for God's will. We continue to pray that we will stay in the country as long as we're supposed to. We feel very peaceful knowing that this situation is in God's hands...as He is the final judge.
What's happening in Croatia at the Church Plant
We have received some good reports from our teammate, Goran, from Croatia. He says that our Tuesday night worship practices are going well apart from my leadership. Praise God for this! He also said that others who we asked to lead certain areas (children's ministry, prayer, etc.) are stepping up to the challenge and leading. This is a huge deal! Our prayer all along has been that this would be a positive experience for them...and it has been. Please continue to pray that the 2 guys who are leading worship this summer (Ivan & Damir) would continue to lead even when I return to Croatia this fall.
What else is happening in Croatia? Well, probably not much. I imagine that like most summers much of the city of Zagreb has escaped to the beautiful Adriatic Sea for vacation.
The Rest of our Furlough
Right now we are in Ft. Worth staying with some friends. We'll be spending time with people while we're here. Next week we'll have some family time with Laura's family in Holly Lake, TX. After that, it's back to Ft. Worth. Then at the end of the month, we'll be heading to Honolulu, HI to visit friends/supporters and SLNI's Hawaii church plant. (We're able to take advantage of all those frequent flier miles we've accrued.) I'll be leading worship there that Sunday which will be fun. When we return we'll have some more family time with Laura's family. Finally we'll go back to Ft. Worth to visit our home church and we'll leave September 24th.
Our goals during this time are reconnecting with family and friends. We also want to visit supporters and thank them face to face. We also look to meet with people who would be able to encourage us and train us more and more to accomplish the vision we see in Croatia.
That's about all for now. To all those we have seen and visited, thank you for all you've done for us...for your hospitality and graciousness in receiving us. For those we've not yet seen, we hope we'll be able to see as many of you as possible. God bless you!
